Candace Mitchell

My name is Candace Mitchell, and I have been teaching business at Blair Oaks for over 22 years. I am a graduate of Jefferson City High School. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from William Woods University where I also played volleyball. After working in the business world for a year, I realized something was missing. Sports had always been an integral part of my life, and this was the first time I was not a part of a team. I decided to get my teaching degree, so I could get involved with coaching. I received my teaching degree from Lincoln University, and Blair Oaks was my first teaching job. I quickly fell in love with the school and the community. My first several years of teaching, I coached volleyball, basketball, and track. Although I coached middle school volleyball the last two years, I will now coach from the sidelines as I follow my children in their various activities.

I have been an FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) adviser since 2007. I am very passionate about FBLA because I know the experience the students have with this organization will prepare them for success in the future. One of the most rewarding parts of this job is to follow the accomplishments of Blair Oaks’ graduates.

I’ve been married to my husband, Tom, for 15 years. I have two daughters, Payton and Jayden, who attend Blair Oaks schools. During my free time and summer break, I enjoy watching my daughter’s volleyball team, hanging out at the lake, and traveling. Go Green!
